This morning’s Bootcamp was held in Dolores Park playground and we used the swings, slides, bars, rings as our gym. I had a difficult time concentrating on my push-ups because old memories of  taking my daughter to playgrounds kept flooding my brain. For years, we would pack snacks, treats, toys, strollers, roller skates, etc and head out to play in the North Beach Playground in San Francisco. We met friends, their children, shared stories and wiped many tears and mouths. This is where my daughter learned her social skills, gained self-confidence, challenged her physical skills, and gained a reputation for being the “alpha child.”

Today’s business playground is a different, grown-up version — it’s a social playground with lots more people and choices.  Everyone is using their words, pictures, and voices, and many are gaining confidence and sharing themselves. The “alpha child” in today’s social playground is the one with the strongest social graph or the highest twitter clout score and when we connect to them, everyone else seems to join.
