Cubicle Chronicles: Productivity and motivational tips for inside sales warriors. By Josiane Feigon.

Almost Done but Not Really

Tomorrow is the deadline on my book- writing a book can be compared to childbirth (sorry guys). 20 years ago when I gave birth to my daughter, I was one of those lucky few who popped her out in a matter of a few hours. After she was born, I was ready to have more. Same thing with my book, I am down to the final day and I have really enjoyed this writing process. I’m ready for another book.

But the work really begins once I submit the manuscript just like the work begins after your child is born. How you raise them, what type of life you give them and what kind of parent will you be? All marketing efforts are on high alert from now through the next century in promoting my book. That is where my work begins on my book.

Marketing today in this opt-out crowd is challenging- with more tools and technologies available today, where does one begin?  Sure, I want a book tour- is that a virtual book tour? Sure, I want Amazon to support my sales efforts, does that mean I won’t be supporting the independent book stores?  Sure, I want to speak at sales kick-offs, will companies still be out there or will they all be gobbled up and swallowed alive by the end of the year?

Where do I begin? Do I revive my web site? Or my blog? or both? I need a new head shot, should I cut my hair first or keep it long? I need to gather fans on my Facebook page and will I ever get as many fans as Ben Stiller?  My LinkedIn profile has 121 contacts, does that make me a person of high-influence?

Yes, my work has definitely begun. The book-writing process has been isolating and now the book promotional efforts will put me out there on center stage- I’m ready, I think.
