Book Signing Tonight

Sarah Palin and I have have one thing in common- we are both doing the book signing circuit. Sarah usually pulls up in this big bus with her picture and book plastered on the side of the bus. I prefer to parallel park my car nearby. She has huge crowds camping overnight and lining up around the store and I have a few casual friends, clients and customers there to support me. Her handlers send out signing etiquette guidelines to the crowd such as:

  • No overnight camping on mall property. Fans can start lining up at 5 a.m. for the signing, which starts at noon.
  • Don’t bring your own chair.
  • Don’t leave the line for extended periods.
  • Don’t take photos or bring bags onto the stage where Palin will be signing books.
  • Get a nontransferable Mall of America wristband.
  • Buy a copy of “Going Rogue” from Barnes and Noble at the mall or bring a receipt to show you purchased your copy at a different Barnes and Noble.
  • Stay in a single-file line.

I am much more low-key and like everyone to bring their authentic selves to my signings. So….I’m the better bet.

Join me tonight at the Borders in Palo Alto for my book signing starts at 7pm. You may have read my inner thoughts about bookstore signings in previous posts- this will be different.

Because my book makes for the perfect holiday gift for several reasons:

1. Everyone knows someone who has been laid off and needs to polish up on their email and phone skills to capture attention and navigate the hidden job market. This book will provide you with insights you never thought possible.

2. Sales is undergoing major transformations and if you don’t pick up speed with the way buyers buy and how they want to be sold to- you just won’t cut it in sales. This book prepares you and give you insight on this new reality.

3. Field sale organizations continue to trade their frequent flyers for a cubicle sales position but the skills are extremely different. This book helps you understand how to sell in the non-visual medium.

4. This time of year is a perfect time to prepare your tools and develop your territory plan with target accounts. There is an entire chapter dedicated to Time Management and Planning to help you organize a strategic and tactical sales plan.

5. I’m much easier on the ears than Sarah Palin

Hope to see you soon-
