Community comes together at SXSW® 2013 – and this has to do with work how?

Wish you were in Austin this week? There’s lots happening with the South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conferences & Festivals (March 8-17, 2013) — SXSW® is the unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies. Fostering both creative and professional growth,  it’s become the premier destination for discovery.

Choose from film, music, and interactive themes:

Brian Solis interviews Shaquille O’Neal and asks him about social media. It turns out the big guy is actually a tech geek! Who knew? Check out his response on this video.

And don’t forget the music. NPR has put together a great mix of new artists to check out, The Austin 100.  And we are all wondering if Prince is going to perform on Saturday . . .

Movies, such as Spring Breakers with Selena Gomez, have made some noise at the festival. The rising film start this year seems to be Brie Larson the in Short Term 12.

Okay, how does all this fun relate to work? Listen to Camille Sweeney talk about her new book on The Art of Doing: How Superachievers Do What They Do. She interviews 36 iconic super-achievers and asks them about core principals that have contributed to their success. A common thread woven through their responses: their need to be part of a community. See where we’re going with this? To SXSW®!
