I never thought I would start a personal blog — and I just did! Why? Because this November, I’m going on a 300-mile-cycling journey through Israel. Since I needed to fund raise for it, I decided to share my personal story. So I hope you’ll check out Josiane’s Cycle Journey.
Yesterday, I had a great conversation with Abe Smith, VP of Sales with MindJet, a company that creates a personal productivity tool for inside sales. We talked about how salespeople still don’t call high and wide and continue to align themselves with the wrong people. It never fails — when I’m training, and I ask inside salespeople if they ever draw org charts, I get a predictable response. They give me this blank stare and respond with ”That’s something my field partner does” or “there’s an app in SFDC that does that automatically.” You’d think I’ve just asked them to draw an entire diagram of the world map or something.
Personally, I would rather build org charts on a Saturday night than go out and party. I know, loser, right? But
Mindjet built an entire company focused on helping salespeople strategize, plan, focus, and execute by mind mapping ideas and organizational and hierarchal structures. Check out their blog – especially when Parker Trewin has something to say.
Mindjet understands salepeople and how they think = visually. In today’s 2.0 selling environment, we must map out a plan and then look at it and think about it for a while before determining our attack strategy. Remember . . . Saturday night is coming up!
