My love/hate thing with donuts

I have this love/hate thing going with donuts. And since today is National Donut Day 2011, it seems appropriate to share my feelings about this.

Donuts are the ultimate comfort food, they bring you back in time. When you were a kid, they were a major treat, when you were studying for finals in college, making a donut run at 5 a.m. when they were just coming out of the oven was the perfect way to start your day.

Donuts never change. They will never go 2.0 on you. What you see is what you get — we remember the taste before taking our first bite.

Donuts bring people together. No matter how different they are, you just open up the carton and everyone spots the donut of their choice.

Donuts are not class conscious. They don’t have any socio-economic standing — everyone is equal when it comes to their donut choices and habits.

But there’s one thing I don’t like about donuts: they have absolutely no nutritional value, they are tough to digest, and very taxing on the brain.

Inside Sales reps are picky when it comes to food. It must be easy, fun, and comforting. Their work is up close and personal with each other, so it can’t be smelly tuna fish sandwiches, exotic meats, or messy burgers with onion rings.  Sometimes, donuts are the perfect answer.

I’ve been doing lots of T & T lately (Traveling and Training, that is) and whether I’m on the East Coast (Dunkin’ Donuts) or the West Coast (Krispy Kremes) the clients always bring a box of donuts to kick off the training. It the warm-up fuel food of choice. And today, you can get these FREE.
