Q: How did you decide to put this ebook together?
Josiane: Nancy Nardin did a presentation at the TeleBusiness Alliance meeting back in February focused on sales productivity tools for inside sales, and the audience was riveted. We realized we were on to something.
Q: There are so many tools out there to choose from! What was your selection criteria?
Nancy: We sorted through hundreds of tools. We based our criteria on the following important factors:
· The sponsors we selected had to be inside sales-centric and have a proven track record.
· The tools had to be web-based.
· The environment had to be Salesforce.com and Outlook compatible.
· The tools had to be easy to install and cost-efficient to trial by offering a free download, trial eval, or low monthly fees
Q: Why an ebook for inside sales?
Josiane: Even though inside sales teams are usually the early adopters of sales tools, their tools knowledge is fairly limited because they usually rely on their managers or the marketing department.
Q: Why did you wrap the tools around 10 sales skills?
Nancy: We found that most inside salespeople utilize tools in the beginning of the sale cycle, and then drop off. We wanted to encourage them to use tools effectively throughout the sales process.
Q: Is this ebook specifically designed for teams or for managers?
Josiane: If you put managers and teams together in one room and asked them to shop for their sales tools, they’ll each pick different tools— and they should. So this book is dedicated for the teams, and we’re working on one for the managers right now, due Fall 2010.
