Cubicle Chronicles: Productivity and motivational tips for inside sales warriors. By Josiane Feigon.

Splitsville= me and my iPhone

My love affair ended today- it only lasted one week. It all started when my Blackberry roller ball died and I ran into the AT&T store completely frazzled, desparate, and vulnerable for a quick new solution. I figured it was time to move on and perhaps my Blackberry problem was a sign that it was time for me to step it up to the iPhone world. So I caved, I bought the iPhone 4 and was excited about it. Oh my, the things I would be able to do that I couldn’t with my Blackberry- video recording, Facetime video calling, pictures, etc.

Suddenly I belonged to this new club- Blackberry expats who join the iPhone team and they are so much happier. Unfortunately, I suffered for the entire week and after careful thought and consideration, I came to the conclusion that this relationship had to end for the following reasons:

Forget touch screens- maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s my fingertips, I don’t know but I can type 100 wpm but the touchpad slowed me down waaaaaaay too much. I literally decided not to text anyone because it would take too long. And forget texting and driving- definitely not possible for me.

Spam- I got at least 5 spam email text messages about added features, secret admirers and new rates plans. Not good.

Dead Drop- Sitting at my laptop on the phone with a client and suddenly the call goes dead right when I ask that tough question. That’s real style.

Size Matters- It doesn’t fit into the palm of my hand and I can’t tell the back from the front or top from bottom when I’m not looking at it.

Unlocking it- I don’t like that extra step every time I need to check a message

Not for Business- Its not an effective business tool, it’s a good browsing tool.

I have plenty more reasons to rant against using the iPhone but think I may lose some readers and friends over the holidays-especially since this is the season to be super jolly.

But hold on, I believe the iPad has a place in my entire life and will satisfy more of my sales personality as it belongs as a viable sales tool and believe the iPad will change the sales industry so I will hold out until Spring 2011 and get my iPad.
